“Candlelight Evenings” Cast A Calming, Pre-Electric Holiday GlowNearby Old Bethpage Village Restoration Offers A Truly Unique Seasonal Respite From The Electronic Din

Nassau County, December 8th – It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the kinetic atmosphere surrounding the holidays. Your senses are assaulted by neon store lights, radio and television advertising, and then jockeying for parking and competing for taxis. Children lose sight of the real meaning of the holidays and adults look for ways to reconnect with the essence of the season. Fortunately, Nassau County is home to the perfect antidote to holiday overload: The Candlelight Evenings at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration.

On Saturday, December 20th, Sunday, December 21st and then Friday, December 26th through December 30th, come and experience what the holidays were like in simpler times. From 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., the Old Bethpage Village Restoration will be illuminated solely by candlelight and visitors will be able to enjoy a 19th century recreation of this wonderful season. Musical entertainment, decorations, dancers, story telling, and a warm bonfire in the village’s crossroads will serve to bring families together and “make a moment” at this oasis of calm in an otherwise frenetic storm. Mulled cider and cookies will be available for a small fee at the picturesque Noon Inn and crafts from talented Long Island artisans will be on sale December 20th and 21st.

A wonderful way to experience the Old Bethpage Village Restoration is as part of a complete, weekend Winter Package. You can enjoy two nights at the Fox Hollow Inn with admission to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Nassau County’s Museum Row and ice skating at the Cantiague Park Ice Rink. For more information on this and other Winter Packages, visit our website: theislandnextdoor.com.

So gather up friends and family and un-plug yourselves for a few wonderful hours of peaceful holiday ambiance, away from the maddening crowds. It is something you will appreciate for a long time. . . or at least until the after-holiday sales!

The Old Bethpage Village Restoration is conveniently located on Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage, exit 48 on the Long Island Expressway. Please call (516) 572-8400 for more information. The Restoration will be closed during its regular daytime hours on Candlelight Evening dates as well as on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After New Years, the Old Bethpage Restoration closes until its scheduled re-opening on March 1, 2009.
